Engine details: |
This auction is for a properly rebuilt 327/350hp long block from a 1968 Corvette. It's complete from the '69-style aluminum valve covers to the original oil pan. It has an 8" balancer and GM 2.02 heads. It runs great. This engine was broken-in on a test stand with new domed pistons (.030" over, cast), rings, bearings, stock cam, hydraulic lifters, timing set, valves, springs, and rockers. It was never installed in a car after the rebuild. It was used for several years as a stationary test engine only for calibrating Rochester fuel injection units. The rotating assembly is balanced. I have about $1,900 in receipts for the machine shop work and new parts.
The block is cast 3914678 and dated E 6 8. The front pad is factory stamped 18S419705 V0508HT. Both heads are cast 3917291. The passenger side head is dated K 20 7, and the driver's side is L 1 7.
This long block assembly doesn't have the intake manifold, water pump, fuel pump, flywheel, exhaust manifolds, alternator, pulleys, or ignition system. It has two cosmetic flaws. One valve cover has a crack (see photo) that is sealed on the inside with epoxy. Also, the harmonic balancer has two timing lines scribed across it's circumferential face. One line marks TDC for #1 cylinder, the other marks 10 degrees after TDC. |
